I’ve been trying to keep this gem a secret for as long as I can . . And I’m sorry to all my friends to whom I made promises not to write about this place . . But it has to be done !
I give you : BBQ ” S ” FOOD DELI !!
That’s a pretty serious name, right ? But listen up, because it’s worthy of the food . .
This place was originally discovered by our very own Nicolas Peden (or so I think so), who couldn’t stop raving about how good the imported beef was at this small hole-in-the-wall joint. After numerous mentions, I finally decided to check it out for myself. Since then, the last few months of my life have been filled with delicious, cheap, and tasty steak sandwiches !
Legitimate, no ? This sandwich is served with imported US Angus beef, the freshest of vegetables, home made steak sauce, and a toasted Wagas loaf of bread. . . For those planning to go, ask for your sandwich served on the ciabatta bread, I find it to come with the largest serving of steak out of the three bread options . .
The shop is located on Wuyuan Lu, between Wulumuqi Lu and Changshu Lu, building number 127. See that bright yellow sign ? Look for that !
The owner spent a large portion of his life in Japan, where he learned all the ins and outs of the fine fine beef industry. He speaks perfect English, is always up for a chat, and loooooves talking about his food.

Anyways, the steak sandwich runs up a nice 35 RMB. A little on the expensive side for Hungry Man, but well worth it. They’ve also got things like Steak Burritos (28 RMB), Salmon Burgers (35 RMB), and a ton of appetizers. Be prepared to sit outside, since there is actually no indoor seating here. Or, if you’re not in the mood to ride your bike over, they do free delivery ! The number is : 4008202817. They even will deliver uncooked steaks for you to BBQ yourself !
