We just received a shipment of frames nicely in time to pop them on our new lightbox and snap a photo before they’re built up. All our frames are custom orders, although we do try to keep our hands on a couple of the usual sizes and finishes.
Four of the frames in that photo are Aluminium F550s with variations in the finish. Whilst we think the raw brushed metal with a clearcoat suits our style – our matte white and matte black frames with glossy colour-matched decals are very popular.
The whole swatch book is available also. When it comes to picking finishes, the choices are many but the decision need not be difficult. The best advice is don’t overthink it. Go with your gut and find a colour that resonates with your style. When the bike is built up, that difference between pantone 552 and 538 is unlikely to be relevant anymore.
That nearest F550 in the photo finished with glow in the dark paint. We’ll be taking a bunch of photos of this build when it’s finished so watch this space.
We know Shanghai’s streets and we know how awesome they are to ride at night time. The traffic is less aggro. The people are less aggro. The weather is less aggro. It’s awesome to roll out with a string of blinking rear lights up ahead and nowhere in particular to be.
Every Tuesday we get together and ride. Just for the fun of it. We generally know where we’re going and cruise until we get there. Each time the route is different. The destination is new. Or a favorite. We know the tunnels, the bridges, the runways and where the cars aren’t. They’ll be thrown in the mix. Who knows what we’ll see but we’ll know when we do. Sometimes the group is big and we take up the street. Sometimes we slice the night like unseen ninjas.
Join us. Roll with us. Find the new Shanghai. Every Tuesday.
We gather at Factory Five (876 Jiangsu Lu, nr Huashan) between 20h00 and 21h00. Bring your bike and a helmet. We’ll bring the route and all of Shanghai before you. For an hour or two.
We’ll ride unless it’s pouring. Keep your eye on our facebook page, twitter feed or weibo thing for the latest update.
This friday, Specialized Rider’s Club are entertaining the Lululemon Pro team. They’re six elite female riders from all around the world, this week they’ve been competing in the Tour of Chongming Island.
They’ll be on hand to answer questions and share stories about riding Shanghai’s equivalent to the Hamptons. I bet the traffic wasn’t giving them as much beef as the last time we rode Chong-hampton.
We’ve scoped them out on Facebook and have mutually decided it’s only right to go and have a chat with them at the event. How often does a team of international riders come over to China and represent?
See you there!
20h00 Friday 11th May at Specialized Pudong (1188 biyun Lu, Hongfeng)
