Blemished Clearout!

We’ve got a handful of items up for grabs that have never been ridden or used, but just aren’t perfect enough for us to sell at normal retail. They function fine, but have a few blemishes. If small scratches or a misplaced logo don’t bother you, then some of these things might be right up your alley. If you’re interested in any of the items below, please shoot us an e-mail ( First come, first serve, and standard shipping fees still apply.

The Cross China Race

2017 marks the year of the rooster, and the first year for The Cross China Race.

The Cross China Race is a self-supported endurance bicycle race from Shanghai to Chengdu covering over 3,500 kilometers across central China.

Racers will be given 14 days to complete the race with four mandatory control points to break up the course. Riders will be responsible for their own routing and navigation, traveling at their chosen pace.

We are still working out all of the details, but The CRR will take place in June.

51T Lattice Chainring.. Coming Soon!

We’ve listened to your requests via social media, bulletin boards, e-mails and in store shout outs. Yes, we’ve been working on a 51T lattice chainring… and it’s almost ready.

We’ve been test riding our new 51T lattice chainring and it’s not only fast, but even stiffer and smoother than before. We’ve increased the lattice thickness by 0.1mm, the overall plane thickness by 0.2mm, while increasing the lattice pitch by several degress. The result is an incredibly light (sub ~100g), bomb proof race ready chainring.

Our updated design has passed fatigue and destruction tests with flying colors. Soon, these will be available online in a limited run of colors. Stay tuned for a release date coming soon!

F5 Road Custom: Scott

Scott’s no beginner to cycling in Shanghai, having navigated most of the outskirts of our mega city. He came to us looking for an upgrade. Something to move quickly, comfortably and that he can use on upcoming long distance rides. The result is a custom lugged Columbus Zona road bike with inner cable routing. Complete with Campagnolo Potenza groupset, H Plus Son Archetype high polish rims, Ritchey Classic bars and seat post, plus our Titan Stem. This build looks extremely classic, but rides like a futuristic space rocket: it’s really fast and agile. Catch it on the streets of Shanghai!

[FOR SALE] A Piece of Chinese Cycling History

Up for grabs is a piece of Chinese bicycle history, an original Yongjiu competition bike made for the Chinese National Team in 1990. This represents one of the first high end bikes ever made in China, and it’s got a pretty cool story to roll with it…

The joint venture between Colnago and Yongjiu started in 1989 and finished sometime in 1990. From what we know, the project was more of a purchasing act from Yongjiu where they bought the same steel and lugs from the Italian factory that Colnago was sourcing from and then used their own workers and technology to build the frames. That’s why this particular bike is a replica of the Colnago Victory.

There were some odd 200 hundred frames through the joint venture before calling it quits. Most of the frames made went to the Chinese National Team, or the Provincial cycling teams. This frame however, was one of 10 made for the 1990 Asia games in Beijing. They were never actually used in competition because the National Team weren’t satisfied with them, so they were sold privately. This one in particular has only ever had one owner.

It’s been ridden heavily since the early 90’s, and almost every component has been replaced from the original. Currently it’s setup with Shimano Sora groupset, Shimano Sora hubs laced to Sun rims, Winpista handlebars and a Specialized Phenom Expert Seat. It’s the ‘Large version’ from the small production run. Since this is a collector’s item, please e-mail us for more details and pricing: shoutout@wearefactoryfive.come – this is a great addition to any cycling stable, and a true piece of Chinese history.
